Nonprofit Professional Development Focus Group Opportunity – Hosted by the Center for Nonprofit Excellence

Caitlyn Kurtz, Center for Nonprofit Excellence Director
The Center for Nonprofit Excellence at the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois (CFECI) is hosting a series of focus groups facilitated by Caitlyn Kurtz, Center for Nonprofit Excellence Director. These discussions are part of CFECI’s ongoing effort to better understand the most pressing needs facing our community and the nonprofit sector.
Why You’re Encouraged to Participate:
If you are part of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization within CFECI’s service area, you are encouraged to participate and share your perspective. Your insights will help shape how CFECI supports organizations like yours and responds to the evolving needs of our communities.
When and Where:
Focus groups will be held across three counties this summer—from June through August 2025—in Ford, Piatt, and Vermilion Counties. You’ll be grouped with 5–9 nonprofit peers in your region for a meaningful conversation facilitated by a CFECI team member.
What to Expect:
These sessions are designed to foster open dialogue and gather valuable input on challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit sector.
- Duration: 60 to 90 minutes
- Format: In-person group discussion
- Sample Questions:
- What are the biggest challenges you face in your day-to-day work that could be addressed through professional development?
- How can CFECI better communicate and facilitate training in your county?
- What are the biggest challenges you face when approaching the financial sustainability of your nonprofit?
Important Notes:
- Participation is entirely voluntary.
- You may skip any question or withdraw at any time.
- Responses will remain anonymous and confidential.
- No identifying information will be linked to your feedback.
Microgrant Raffle:
As a thank-you, all participants who complete the focus group will be entered into a raffle for a $500 microgrant. The winner will be selected randomly using a third-party random selection tool.
If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please fill out this quick interest form.
Your voice matters, and your input will help strengthen the nonprofit sector throughout East Central Illinois. We hope you’ll join the conversation!
