So You Want to Start a Nonprofit

June 4th, 6:00pm-7:00pm | In-Person at Champaign Public Library

Are you passionate about helping others and have an idea to serve your community? Is starting a nonprofit the best way to turn your vision into a reality?

Join us for an informative workshop with Caitlyn Kurtz, Center for Nonprofit Excellence Director at the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois, and learn the fundamental steps to start a charitable nonprofit organization in Illinois.

Nonprofit organizations play a growing role in the social and economic well-being of our community as they provide services, goods and resources to meet community needs. Join this session and learn the key ingredients to:

  • Define your purpose and programs
  • File articles of incorporation
  • Draft bylaws
  • Develop a board of directors
  • Optimize your organization’s fundraising efforts
  • Determine if a nonprofit corporation structure is the most suitable way to address your community need.

This interactive session concludes with a Q & A format where you will have an opportunity to get feedback from Caitlyn and alums of the Community Solutions Incubator, an initiative of the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois.
