The 2017 Hearts of Gold Gala was a great celebration of philanthropy in east central Illinois. Nearly 125 people joined in to honor five Hearts of Gold Awardees and the 2017 Kyle & Phyllis Robeson Philanthropy Awardees.
The Conservatory Quartet from the Conservatory of East Central Illinois played a lovely selection of music throughout the social hour. The Champaign Country Club served our guests a great meal with strawberry shortcake to top it off. Joan Dixon updated the group on the Community Foundation. Then, the audience sat back to hear stories about the selfless contributions the five Hearts of Gold Award Recipients make in their communities. Tim Flavin, John Jones, Tom Kacich, Grace Mitchell and Scott Price were warmly applauded for the work they do to make others’ lives better.
Richard & Rosann Noel were presented with the 2017 Kyle & Phyllis Robeson Philanthropy Award for their decades of giving to their Alma maters, their church, the arts, education and state and local nonprofit organizations. The Noels, like the previous recipients of the award, have also carried forward the philanthropic spirits from their families, made it their own and shared and encouraged that spirit in their children and grandchildren. The Noels are truly examples of philanthropy in east central Illinois at its best.
