2019 HEARTS OF GOLD GALA

The Community Foundation of East Central Illinois hosted its fifth annual Hearts of Gold Gala on May 23, 2019. The event celebrated and honored seven local philanthropists making a difference in East Central Illinois.

This year, five individuals were honored with the Community Foundation’s Hearts of Gold Awards. They were Mary Hodson, Rotarian and former Champaign County Nursing Home Advisory Board Member, Auxiliary Member and President; Marilyn Kay, founder of The Reading Group; Don Moyer Jr., legacy member of the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club Foundation Board; Julie Palermo, President of the CU Autism Network; Karen Pickard, volunteer at Crisis Nursery and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.

Carol and Ed Scharlau were the recipients of the 2019 Kyle and Phyllis Robeson Philanthropy Award.
